Manchester City are interested in signing Chelsea winger Rio Ngumoha, according to Academy Scoop.
The X account claims that the Premier League champions will battle it out with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle for the teenager.
Ngumoha is believed to be “actively pushing” to leave the Blues, which has led to a scramble for his signature.
There is no guarantee that the 15-year-old will remain in the UK, though, as there also plenty of teams on the continent, including Bayern Munich, who are pursuing him.
What do City fans need to know about Ngumoha?
The forward is very highly rated. He is an England youth international, having played for his country at both Under 15s and Under 16 level.
Ngumoha is most comfortable playing on the left-wing cutting in onto his strong right foot, but he has also been deployed as a conventional right winger and in the No.10 position.
He is currently playing for Chelsea’s Under 18s, having made 9 appearances in the Under 18 Premier League last season, getting on the scoresheet on one occasion against Southampton back in December.
City are keen to give a pathway to young talent
Either through the club’s own academy or through the City Football Group network, the Cityzens are able to give youngsters the chance to shine at senior level.
One of the latest examples of that is Savio. The young Brazilian has excelled whilst with Girona over the last 12 months and he could well end up at the Etihad next season playing for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Ngumoha is quite far away from playing first-team football but, if he does pick City as his next club, he will get the opportunity to prove himself, either in Manchester or at one of the other clubs the team owns.
