According to Florian Plettenberg, Leon Goretzka is refusing to leave Bayern Munich this summer, despite the club informing him he is free to depart.
Twelve months ago, West Ham and Manchester United were looking to lure Goretzka away from Bavaria. However, the German midfielder stood firm in his ambition to fight for a starting sport at the Allianz Arena.
This summer, while Premier League interest has faded, Atlético Madrid are now attempting to court the 29-year-old. Nevertheless, once again, Goretzka has informed Der Rekordmeister that he is looking to remain at the club.
Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, has told Goretzka that should the La Liga outfit submit a suitable offer, he will be able to leave. Regardless, moving to Spain is not an option for the former Schalke midfielder, who is motivated to earn a place in Vincent Kompany’s midfield.
As stated in the report, even if Der Rekordmeister were to accept an offer for his services, Goretzka would not enter negotiations.
Earlier today, the midfielder proved his desire to play for Bayern, scoring the winning goal in their pre-season fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
