Toss Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl against England

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan decided to bowl after winning the toss against England in the first T20I in Chattogram, the first match of the first bilateral T20I series between the two teams (this is only the second time Bangladesh and England have faced each other in the format).

The pitch is the same one that was used for the third ODI on March 6, where Bangladesh batted first and scored 246 before England were bowled out 50 runs short. At the Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament earlier this year, the average first-innings score at the venue was 162. The pitch is expected to remain quite dry and slow, for both pacers as well as spinners.
England have left out legspinner Rehan Ahmed and quick bowler Reece Topley, who is nursing a niggle, from their 13-man squad. Bangladesh have handed a T20I debut to top-order batter Towhid Hridoy, Rony Talukdar has returned to a Bangladesh XI in any format after eight years out, and Shamim Hossain has returned after his last T20I appearance in 2021.

Bangladesh: 1 Rony Talukdar, 2 Najmul Hossain Shanto, 3 Litton Das (wk), 4 Shakib Al Hasan (capt), 5 Towhid Hridoy, 6 Afif Hossain, 7 Shamim Hossain, 8 Taskin Ahmed, 9, Nasum Ahmed, 10 Hasan Mahmud, 11 Mustafizur Rahman

England: 1 Phil Salt, 2 Jos Buttler (capt, wk), 3 Dawid Malan, 4 Ben Duckett, 5 Moeen Ali, 6 Sam Curran, 7 Chris Woakes, 8 Chris Jordan, 9 Adil Rashid, 10 Jofra Archer, 11 Mark Wood
