Man Utd defender Victor Lindelof has admitted he “wants to play games” and he will “re-evaluate” his future during the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old signed for Man Utd in 2017 from Benfica for around £30m plus add-ons.

Lindelof was a regular starter for Man Utd up until this season as he has played 217 times for the club across all competitions.

The defender has been impacted by Lisandro Martinez’s arrival as the Argentina international has often played alongside Raphael Varane since Erik ten Hag took over last summer.

Lindelof has only started five times in the Premier League this term. It is likely that he will leave Man Utd this summer so they do not lose him for anything when his contract expires in 2024.

He is set to get some game time during the international break as he has been called up to represent Sweden. They have Euro 2024 qualifiers against Belgium and Azerbaijan in the coming days.

Before these games, Lindelof has admitted that he will “re-evaluate and see what is best” when this season ends.

“Of course like every player, you want to play every game and obviously I haven’t done that this season,” Lindelof said (via 90min). “But like I always say when I come here [international duty], it’s a pleasure to be here and I’m always happy to represent my country.

“I’m really looking forward to the games that we have and I spoke to Janne [Sweden’s manager] before to say I was really looking forward to coming here and to perform, and to be on the pitch with the guys again.

“Like I said, I want to play, that’s why I play football, I want to play games, but I haven’t thought about that [transfer away], right now I’m just focusing on the national team and then of course, the rest of the season with the club. Then in the summer we’ll re-evaluate and see what is best.”

This revelation from Lindelof comes about after reports claimed he could be part of a ‘sensational swap deal’ with Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.

The Dutchman is being linked with Man Utd as they look to identify a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is being heavily linked with a move elsewhere.

Ten Hag is said to be a ‘huge fan’ of Dumfries, who has shone at various major tournaments for the Netherlands in recent years.

This is while Inter Milan have been ‘widely linked with Lindelof. They will be in the market for a new centre-back this summer as Milan Skriniar is set to join PSG on a free transfer in the summer.
