Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are preparing for an epic showdown with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, as they look to keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City have just two injury concerns ahead of their game against Liverpool – however, they are both key players. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden may both miss out, which would be a massive blow.

Foden is ruled out – he is expected to be out of action until the beginning of May after contracting appendicitis. When he returns, after his surgery, the Citizens will be down one appendix.

Meanwhile, Haaland is struggling with a pelvic issue. He will be assessed before the game – City fans across the globe will be collectively biting their nails over the results of his fitness test.

The last time the two teams met, City slumped to a 1-0 defeat as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the game. It was a disappointing display by the Sky Blues as they failed to take advantage of the Reds’ then-poor form – they’ll be looking to right some wrongs in the reverse fixture.

Manchester City are currently second in the Premier League table – despite this, they are still seven points behind Arsenal. At this stage of the season, that is a significant lead.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are sixth in the table after an underwhelming campaign. They could fall out of the top seven if they are beaten on Saturday – Jurgen Klopp’s men will need to be on top of their game to avoid defeat.

It seems as though the feeling is Liverpool can rise to the occasion according to Trent Alexander-Arnold and deliver a result against their big rivals as they did vs Man United. I think we can rule out extreme scorelines like 7-0 as City will not capitulate the way their cross town rivals did at Anfield plus the game is being played at the Etihad.
