The Portuguese superstar celebrated his 200th international cap with a late match-winner.

Portugal manager Roberto Martinez has praised Cristiano Ronaldo for maintaining top-level form at 38 years old.

For many observers, Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr ended his career at the elite level. But CR7’s incredible stats for club and country suggest otherwise.

The former Manchester United star registered 14 goals and two assists in 16 appearances for Al Nassr. He has also scored five goals in his last four games in Portugal’s jersey.

On Tuesday, CR7 scored a 90th-minute winner to secure Portugal’s victory over Iceland. The goal marked the veteran star’s 123rd goal for the national team.

Speaking after the game, Martinez said“When you’re out, you don’t know the secret.

“Playing until he was 38, playing the games he played. When you’re with him, you understand why.

His commitment, his total dedication, that incredible desire to be the best and improve everyone. It’s something we see in very young players.

“It’s something I learned from him: you can always be young with experience.”

He added: “Cristiano did not surprise me with his ability; after 200 games for the national team, you can imagine the commitment.

Being at the highest level, it could be very easy to accept that you will not be at your best.”
