Marco Sportiello has finally put pen to paper, becoming the first signing.

It has been known for months, but today the signing on the paper took place: Sportiello is a new Milan player, with only the official announcement missing.

The 31-year-old is joining on a free transfer after 10 years at Atalanta and he will be the new second-choice goalkeeper, as Ciprian Tătăruşanu will see his contract with Milan expire in a few days.

The Italian had his medical with the club this morning, before heading to Casa Milan for the signing ceremony. He is the first signing of the new era, although the agreement with him has been agreed for a long time, and was made by Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara, who have been sacked.

Interestingly, Sportiello is not the only goalkeeper to have signed for Milan today: 18-year-old Noah Raveyre, who arrived too as a free agent after ending his contract with Saint-Étienne, had his medical and signed the contract: he will play with Ignazio Abate’s Primavera next year.

Milan are making moves in the transfer market and after making Sportiello official, they will do the same for Ruben Loftus-Cheek who arrives from Chelsea for €20m including bonuses.
