Burnley target Aster Vranckx will get a chance at Wolfsburg following the departure of Felix Nmecha to Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgian, who was recently awarded his full international debut, will return to training on Friday after partaking in the Euro U21s. Vranckx spent last season on loan at Milan, who decided against exercising their €10.5m purchase option on the central-midfielder.

Because of the departure of Nmecha to Borussia Dortmund for €30m, there’s now a space in midfield which could be filled by Vranckx. This comes despite newly-promoted Premier League side Burnley submitting an offer of around €12m for the player at the end of last month. Although interest from abroad, as reported by Kicker, Vranckx has stated that he would like to fight for his place at Wolfsburg.

Discussing the Belgian, VfL managing director Marcel Schäfer said: “We’re talking about a very good player who has the chance to show what he’s capable of and to convince the coach.”

With a contract until 2025, there’s now an excellent chance that Vranckx will be playing Bundesliga football this season.

One player that did return to training is Maximilian Philipp but after spending the last six months on loan at Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg would allow the former Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund forward to leave the club.
