India emerged victorious against West Indies in a must-win third T20I of the five-match series. The match took place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana and saw the Men in Blue edge past the home team by seven wickets after two consecutive losses in the first two games. India’s phenomenal performance have kept them alive in the series.

Rovman Powell’s quickfire knock:

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, West Indies posted a competitive total of 159/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Brandon King‘s steady knock of 42 runs set the tone for the Caribbean innings. He was well supported by Kyle Mayers (25) and Nicholas Pooran (20). Meanwhile, Rovman Powell contributed quickfire 40 runs off 19 deliveries to the team’s total.

India’s bowling effort was led by Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed three crucial wickets for 28 runs in his spell of four overs. Axar Patel chipped in with a wicket, conceding 24 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav’s sensational show for India:

In reply, India showcased a dominant batting display and successfully reached the set target with 13 balls to spare. Suryakumar Yadav‘s explosive knock of 83 off 44 stole the show and played a significant role in India getting closer to the target. Suryakumar hammered ten fours and four sixes in the process. He was ably supported by Tilak Varma, who contributed a crucial 49 runs off 37 balls. Hardik Pandya‘s cameo of 20 runs further solidified India’s grip on the match.

West Indies bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batting onslaught. Although Alzarri Joseph claimed two wickets for 25 runs and Obed McCoy bagged one scalp for 32 runs, they failed to restrict India from chasing down the target, and the visiting team eventually secured a convincing victory.

The Player of the Match award was conferred to Suryakumar for his outstanding batting performance, which turned the tide in India’s favour.

It is worth mentioning that the five-match series now stands at 2-1, and the West Indies still are ahead of the Indian team in the leg. The next match is scheduled on Saturday (August 12) at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill.
