Hoffenheim have announced that they have completed the signing of German international striker Mergim Berisha from Augsburg.
Berisha will join Hoffenheim for €14m and sign a contract at the club until 2027. Borussia Dortmund had previously been reported in the striker but Sport1 says that Berisha was never a topic at the club.
On his move to Hoffenheim, Berisha said: “The TSG is an interesting club with an exciting team, to whose successful development I would like to contribute my part. The conditions to perform are simply ideal here. The prerequisites that have been created here have already been used by several players to make a leap in performance. I will also work intensively on this, because in the end I will also help the team and club with this.”
The 25-year-old was interested in taking the next step in his career after Augsburg but a move to Hoffenheim is not that big of a step up considering both teams were fighting relegation last season.
In his first season back in Germany, Berisha scored nine times and assisted four in 23 games. His form for Augsburg earned him a call-up to the German national team, where he debuted against Peru. The striker has not been called up since as an ankle injury hindered the latter end of his season.
