Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that goalkeeper Daniel Peretz will be in the starting lineup for Bayern Munich’s opening fixture in the DFL Pokal against Preußen Münster.

Sven Ulreich has started every fixture in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich this season due to the long-term injury of Manuel Neuer; however, Peretz will now get his chance tonight to impress.

Peretz was one of five signings by Tuchel this summer as he was signed from Maccabi Tel Aviv for €5m and is tipped to be the number one goalkeeper for Bayern Munich in the future.

“Because I worked abroad, I’m used to things where the second-choice goalkeeper gets a chance in the cup, and that’s important for Daniel, his behaviour is top,” said Tuchel.

“Daniel deserves it. It’s been discussed with him and our goalkeeping coach. We signed Daniel with big hopes for the future.”

Despite rotation in the goalkeeping position and taking on an opposition in the third division, Tuchel will still be taking this fixture seriously.

“We won’t underestimate the opponent. We’ll play like Bayern want to play. The underdogs always have the chance. You always have to find a way to win. That’s what we expect from us. We have to prove that,” said Tuchel.
