Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy has won the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for September.

Guirassy won the vote ahead of Alejandro Grimaldo, Harry Kane, Victor Boniface, Leroy Sané and fellow team mate Chris Führich.

The Guinean forward ended September as the Bundesliga top goal scorer with ten goals.

Seven of these goals were scored in September and he also provided one assist, making him the player with the most goal contributions.

The 27-year-old has also written himself in history as he became just the second Bundesliga player to score as many as ten goals after five match days of a season. The only other player to achieve this was Robert Lewandowski who went on to score 41 goals in the 2020/21 season.

“I’m very pleased to have been named player of the month,” said Guirassy.

“I want to thank my team-mates, without whom this wouldn’t have been possible, as well as everyone who voted for me.”

Guirassy’s form is helping Stuttgart have an impressive season so far as they currently sit second in the league table which is a massive improvement from last season as they finished in 16th position and just avoided relegation.
