Manchester United somehow held on for three points in dramatic fashion against Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Harry Maguire’s second-half goal seemed to have handed the win to United only for Scott McTominay to concede a last-second penalty.

Thankfully, Andre Onana, who has endured a rough start to life as a United No 1, stepped up and saved the penalty from Jordan Larsson to save his team’s blushes.

Antony struggled yet again

The result at Old Trafford means the Red Devils remain alive in the competition but Erik ten Hag deserves criticism for his flawed team selection.

One of the weakest aspects of the night was on the right wing where Antony stayed on till 63 minutes, without doing anything remotely of note.

Even Marcus Rashford was inconsistent on the opposite flank but he was involved a lot more than the former São Paulo man, who seemed like a mere spectator at times.

Ten Hag clearly likes the left-footed profile on the right but the Brazilian still has not hit top gear a season-and-half after his arrival in Manchester.

He had only 38 touches of the ball and made only 19 successful passes to end his match with a passing rate of a mere 83 percent.

The 23-year-old hardly influenced proceedings in an attacking sense, making a grand total of 0 key passes while having the same number of shots on target.

Antony needs to be dropped

The winger failed completely in an attacking sense, with 0 crosses and 0 long balls while completing only 50 percent of his dribbles against the Danish opposition.

The Brazil international fared little better in other areas of the game, winning only 40 percent of his duels while losing the ball nine times.

Antony is clearly struggling and Ten Hag cannot keep selecting him and hoping for a revival while keeping the more energetic Alejandro Garnacho waiting on the wings.

The former Ajax star showed glimpses of his undoubted potential in his debut season and while fans hoped he would kick on this campaign, that has not been the case. Off-field matters have not helped either.

Jadon Sancho’s camp had accused the manager of preferential treatment towards Antony and while a fellow player indulging in mud-slinging is not the best look, the manager also needs to move on from Antony, at least temporarily while the player tries to re-find his mojo.
