15 goals in 10 games

There’s little doubt which player rose above all others to steal the headlines in Bayern Munich’s dominating 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Although Leroy Sané excelled on the wing and Leon Goretzka put on a heroic performance in the middle of the park, it was hat-trick hero Harry Kane that stole the show with three goals at the Westfalenstadion. Which now puts the England international on no less than 15 goals from his first 10 Bundesliga games of the season.

How good has Harry Kane been for Bayern this season?

Indeed, Kane’s return from his first 10 league games in the German top-flight is a new record for the Bundesliga, further highlighting the ease with which the former Tottenham Hotspur star has taken to his new club. Signed as Bayern’s record transfer in the summer for no less than €95 million, there were some that questioned whether the England international would be able to live up to the hefty price tag. But if anything, Kane is playing arguably the best football of his career according to the numbers.

Kane goals

When we break down Kane’s record into an average, it works out at an incredible 1.55 goals per 90 minutes. Not only is that almost twice the striker’s average at Tottenham in the Premier League last season, but it’s also undoubtedly his best return ever in a major European division. Over the course of his 11 seasons at Spurs, Kane’s record in the English top-flight worked out at around 0.72 goals per 90, with his highest return coming in the 2016/17 season when he averaged 1.04 goals per 90. And while it’s still early days, there’s a good chance that Kane will finish his first season in the Bundesliga with an average that far surpasses that impressive return seven years ago.
