Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund is imminent. Ostracised from the Manchester United squad despite featuring in the opening three Premier League games, Sancho is set to return to Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan.
As reported on Wednesday, Sancho has been given the green light to travel to Dortmund to undergo a medical with the Bundesliga club, where he will spend the remainder of the season. At one point, negotiations seemed to hit a roadblock as Dortmund wanted a purchase option on the Englishman, but they’ve had to settle on a loan deal, which will cost around €4m, including the player’s salary.
In what’s been a difficult season that has Borussia Dortmund sitting fifth, 15 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, the impending arrival of Sancho has lifted the spirits of Dortmund fans.
With 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions before his departure in 2021, here’s a look at Sancho’s best moments.
How will Borussia Dortmund’s attack look?
Borussia Dortmund have struggled in the wide areas with both Donyell Malen and Karim Adeyemi not playing at the required level. That has often seen Julian Brandt start in a wide area, while Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, although raw, was BVB’s best winger leading up to the winter break. While occupying a wide position would suit Dortmund and Sancho, there’s a possibility that he could also feature centrally, in place of Marco Reus.
