The Ruhr Nachrichten reports that the return of Sven Mislintat as a director to Borussia Dortmund is imminent, with a deal possibly being completed this week.
What type of role Mislintat will take up at Dortmund is currently unknown, but it has previously been reported that he could replace Sebastian Kehl as sporting director if the latter is promoted to replace Hans-Joachim Watzke. However, the Ruhr newspaper also previously reported that there is no universal support for Kehl due to Dortmund’s 2023 transfer window so a promotion is not as certain as first thought.
Mislintat has a long association with Dortmund as he made his name at the club initially as a scout before rising up the ranks at the club before leaving to take up more senior roles at Arsenal, VfB Stuttgart and Ajax.
The potential return for Mislintat could be good news for head coach Edin Terzic. Bild reports that Mislintat is a close confidant of Terzic which means there could be potential lobbying to keep him as the head coach especially if the club continue with their form in the Champions League.
