Marnus Labuschagne will resume his hunt for a drought-breaking big score on Saturday as Australia look to recover from a wobbly start with the bat in the second Test and post a big first innings lead over New Zealand.

The hosts missed an early chance on day two, with Daryl Mitchell putting down a catch at first slip, handing Lyon a reprieve on 1. However, Mitchell redeemed himself later in the session, grabbing a chance in the cordon to send Lyon packing for 20.

Soon after, Henry secured his five-wicket haul, his third in Tests, after trapping Mitchell Marsh on the pads for a duck.
