In an exciting encounter at Trent Bridge, England secured a convincing 48-run victory against Ireland in the 2nd ODI of the ongoing Ireland tour of England ODI Series 2023.

Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first, hoping to make early inroads into the England batting lineup. England, however, had different plans. Led by opener Will Jacks, who scored a brilliant 94 runs off 88 balls, and well-supported by contributions from Sam Hain (89 runs off 82) and Ben Duckett (48 runs off 49), the hosts managed to post a formidable total of 334/8 in their 50 overs.

In response, Ireland gave it their all but fell short of the target, finishing their innings at 286 all out in 46.4 overs. Barry McCarthy (41 runs off 38) and Craig Young (40 runs off 44) tried to revive Ireland’s chase, but the English bowlers, led by Rehan Ahmed‘s four-wicket haul, kept the pressure on and eventually secured the victory.

Player of the Match honours went to England’s Will Jacks for his stellar batting performance.
