A calculated burst from Hobart Hurricane pair Sam Hain and Corey Anderson has dealt the Melbourne Renegades yet another defeat.

The Hurricanes lost 2-3 in their pursuit of the Renegades’ 147 before Hain and Anderson combined for a match-winning partnership.

Heading into the 15th over, the Renegades looked ahead in the match before an eruption from Hain – who was 22 off 25 balls at the time – changed the game.

The right-hander blasted 31 from his next 11 balls to propel the Hurricanes into a commanding position.

Anderson – who was at one stage 3 from 10 balls – followed suit from the other end, crunching 18 off his next eight balls to ensure the match was won.

He finished unbeaten on 41 from 35 balls as the Hurricanes secured a six-wicket win.

The victory keeps the Hurricanes in touch of another BBL finals berth while the Renegades’ disappointing season rolls on.

DE KOCK IS DONE

One of the world’s best white-ball batters leaves the Big Bash with an uncharacteristically lean record.

South African Quinton de Kock returns home with just 103 runs at an average of 17.16 for the tournament.

His slim season comes only months after an ODI World Cup that grossed 594 runs.

With Joe Clarke suffering a leg injury against the Adelaide Strikers, Netherlands international captain Scott Edwards is expected to take the gloves for the Renegades.

LOOK OUT FROM ABOVE

Balls crashing into the Marvel Stadium roof is a regular occurrence in Big Bash cricket, but balls cannoning into the roof and not coming down is new.

A pull shot from Hurricane Ben McDermott is yet to land after it was hit the roof and stayed up there.

“That was a monster – be careful when they open up tomorrow morning,” former Australian quick Brett Lee said on the Fox Cricket broadcast.

It was the second ball lost from the evening after one was hit under the Renegades’ arcade on the opposing side during in the first innings.

FRUSTRATED FAITHFUL

It’s been a frustrating season for Renegades fans and they made sure their voices were heard in the second over of Thursday night’s match.

After eight consecutive dot balls to start home side’s innings, some ‘Gades supporters Bronx cheered the first run of the match.

They changed their tune when Jordan Cox and Jon Wells landed a few lusty blows.
