Ishant Sharma, who currently plays for the Delhi Capitals (DC), recently opened up about his close friendship with former India captain and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli. The two players share a special bond as they both hail from the same locality in Delhi and made their India debuts within a year of each other.

Kohli and Ishant both belong to West Delhi. They have known each other for a very long time. And Ishant recently, in a podcast, admitted that the things they talk about, the kinds of stuff they laugh at, only they understand.

“Virat Kohli is very nice guy. We are very good friends since U-17 days. He is proper West Delhi man. Now he’s very successful and he’s been a captain. But he is still same West Delhi guy whenever we meets each other. He’s very good person,”. said Ishant.

Speaking to Delhi Capitals in a candid chat, Ishant said Kohli might be all new and improved, but he has seen the real West Delhi guy.

” Now, he has become very sophisticated and all, but no one had seen the real West Delhi guy inside Kohli for long, but he is completely different when those two meet. My house is in Patel Nagar and he lives in Mirabagh, both places are close by. We used to play Under-17s together in Kolkata and of course, we did not have much money. There we would eat egg rolls and have soft drinks after practice, and enjoy it. I’ve seen that side of Virat” added Sharma.

Kohli and Ishant played a lot of cricket together, first in the group age cricket, then the domestic circuit and then they set the international stage on fire together. Ishant played a lot of Test cricket under Kohli’s captaincy as the veteran pacer was the leader of the pace attack when his friend had the charge of the whole team.

Ishant may not be the part of national side anymore, however, his bond with Kohli bond remains the same and hasn’t been affected by the time.
