In the second T20I of the Pakistan tour of Ireland 2024, held at Castle Avenue, Babar Azam‘s men bounced back with a convincing victory to level the series against the home team.

Ireland posts a competitive 193/7 on the scoreboard

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Pakistan’s bowlers faced a formidable challenge as Ireland posted a competitive total of 193/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Lorcan Tucker led the charge with a scintillating knock of 51 runs off 34 balls, supported by valuable contributions from Harry Tector (32 runs off 28 balls) and Gareth Delany (28 runs off 10 balls). However, Pakistan’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi (3 wickets for 49 runs) and Abbas Afridi (2 wickets for 33 runs), managed to restrict Ireland’s scoring rate.

Mohammad Rizwan takes Pakistan over the finish line

In response, Pakistan displayed their batting prowess, chasing down the target of 194 runs with ease in just 16.5 overs, courtesy of stellar performances from Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman. Rizwan’s explosive knock of 75 runs off 46 balls, supported by Zaman’s blistering 78 runs off 40 balls, powered Pakistan to a commanding victory. Azam Khan‘s cameo of 30 runs off 10 balls further bolstered Pakistan’s innings.

Despite Ireland’s efforts with the ball, which saw Mark Adair, Graham Hume and Ben White each claim a wicket, Pakistan’s batters dominated proceedings, securing a seven-wicket win and leveling the series.

For his exceptional batting display, Mohammad Rizwan was named the Player of the Match, highlighting his impact in guiding Pakistan to victory.
