Harry Brook’s performance in the IPL 2023 has been underwhelming, and he once again failed to deliver during the match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday, April 7. The right-handed batsman was stumped by wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran off the bowling of leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, scoring only three runs. This was his second failure against leg spinners in the ongoing season, having been bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal in the previous game.

During the IPL 2023 auction, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) acquired Brook for ₹13.25 crore after his successful run against Pakistan, where he scored three Test centuries in as many Tests and 238 runs in seven T20Is against the same team, with an average of 79.33. Brook also recently scored a massive 186 in the second Test against New Zealand.

Despite Brook’s impressive performances in the past, his inability to perform in the IPL has surprised fans. With 100 T20 matches under his belt, Brook has scored 2,445 runs at a decent strike rate of 147.28, including a century and nine half-centuries. Additionally, he has played in overseas T20 leagues such as SA20, the Big Bash League (BBL) and The Hundred.

Fans have expressed their disappointment with Brook’s performance in the IPL, and many have taken to social media to troll him. With the hefty price tag that SRH paid for him, there were high expectations for Brook to perform well. However, his lack of success has left fans questioning his ability to adapt to the conditions of the IPL.

Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter:

As the IPL 2023 continues, it remains to be seen if Brook can turn his fortunes around and justify his price tag in the remaining matches of the season. With his experience in T20 cricket and past successes, he has the potential to become a valuable player for SRH. However, he will need to work hard to regain the trust of fans and prove his worth in the world’s biggest T20 league.
