In a stunning display of talent and grit, Nepalese cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has shattered a record held by one of the biggest names in cricket. With his unparalleled bowling skills, Lamichhane has become the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in One Day International (ODI) cricket, achieving this incredible feat in just 44 matches.

When did that happen?

Breaking the previous record held by Afghan spinner Rashid Khan, who took 100 wickets in 52 matches, Lamichhane’s historic moment came during the ACC Men’s Premier Cup match against Oman.

At only 22 years old, Lamichhane’s success is a testament to his unwavering dedication and tireless pursuit of excellence. His passion for cricket has taken him to new heights, and his name is now etched in the annals of cricketing history.

Lamichhane’s IPL stint

Lamichhane has been the most popular Nepalese cricketer over the years, having played in several franchise leagues including the Indian Premier League. Lamichhane was a part of the Delhi Capitals franchise for 3 years, from 2018 to 2020. He played 9 games for the franchise, 3 in 2018 and 6 in 2019 and picked up 13 wickets for the franchise at an average of 22.46. However, with the inclusion of too many stars in the team, there was no place for the leg spinner in the Delhi Capitals franchise in 2020, as he didn’t play a single game for them that year. After this, Lamichhane was released by the franchise and since then, he has not featured in a single IPL team.

As news of Lamichhane’s achievement spreads, fans and fellow cricketers from around the world have taken to social media to express their awe and admiration. Some have even gone so far as to call him the “future of cricket,” a title that Lamichhane is sure to wear with pride.

But for Lamichhane, this moment is about more than just breaking records. It is about the countless hours of practice, the endless determination, and the unshakeable belief that he could achieve greatness. And as he stands on the field, a champion among champions, he knows that he has accomplished something truly remarkable.
