Raina smashed his first T20I fifty on February 25 2009 against New Zealand at Christchurch but India lost the contest by 7 wickets. Tilak, scored his maiden fifty against West Indies on August 06 2023 where West Indies won by 2 wickets.

Unbeaten at 49 in T20I chases

A fitting conclusion to this uncanny resemblance is the fact that both Raina and Tilak remained unbeaten at the score of 49* during T20 International chases, underscoring their ability to anchor the innings even in challenging situations.

In the recently-concluded third T20I against the Caribbeans, Tilak remained unbeaten at 49 as India won the match by 7 wickets. Though, Tilak could reach his fifty but with 2 runs to win on the final ball of the 18th over, Hardik smacked Rovman Powell for a six.

Raina, on the other hand, remained undefeated at 49 during 3rd T20I in India’s tour of Australia at Sydney. The visitors won the contest by 7 wickets.

The resemblance deepens as both Raina and Tilak share the rare combination of being left-handed batters and right-arm off-break bowlers, a duality that highlights their versatility on the field.
