LIVE: The Melbourne Renegades will look to leap to the top of the BBL table when they travel to the SCG to face the Sydney Sixers on Wednesday night (7.15pm AEDT).

The Renegades won their first three matches before falling eight runs short of the Hurricanes’ miserly total last time out, but a return to winning ways would see them rise to the top of the Big Bash ladder.

But the Sixers have rebounded from a slow start to find form, winning their last two matches after two emphatic defeats to open the season. Both of their wins have come on home soil.

Nic Maddinson and Aaron Finch have shown plenty of danger with the bat for the Renegades, with Maddinson’s top score of 87 the second-highest of any player this season, while Finch has bagged an unbeaten 70 of his own. Maddinson has 128 runs from his four knocks so far, while Finch has 118 at a hugely impressive average of 59.00. Then of course, there’s Andre Russell, who has one half-century from his four innings so far.

The Sixers’ batting has proven a significant weakness, racking up just 538 runs in total – the fewest of any team – while Renegades star Akeal Hosein already has 10 wickets, the second-most in the competition.

And on the bowling side, three Sixers rank in the bottom five in the competition for bowling economy – all above 9.

It paints a stark picture of just how much the Sydney side has to improve on both sides if they are to make a deep run in the competition.
