VfB Stuttgart’s Guinean international striker Serhou Guirassy has been making headlines with his goal-scoring spree in the German top-flight football, Bundesliga. The 27-year-old has already emerged as one of the top marksmen in Europe during the early days of the new season. The French-born forward currently ranks as the top scorer in the Bundesliga, boasting a couple of hat-tricks and netting a brace in three matches, ahead of former Tottenham Hotspur’s talismanic captain Harry Kane, who moved to Bayern Munich this summer.

In total, the forward has netted an impressive goal tally of 14 goals in just the first 8 league appearances so far this season for Stuttgart. This feat is remarkable, considering that before this, he had only achieved a double-digit goal tally three times in his entire career. The Guinean forward is regarded as more of a journeyman, representing over 7 clubs, primarily in the German and French leagues. Nonetheless, Guirassy has recently made a permanent move to VfB Stuttgart, signing a contract until 2026. He switched from the French club Stade Rennais after being on loan last season.

It is coming as no surprise that Serhou Guirassy’s phenomenal performance has caught the interest of several premier league clubs mainly Crystal Palace and West Ham United alongside other clubs such as Fulham, Brentford, and Bournemouth are in line with keen interest to land the striker at the world’s best league, English Premier League.

The South London club is in dire need of prolific strikers after witnessing the departure of their key forward Wilfried Zaha in this summer transfer window.  The Ivorian international chose Turkish giants Galatasaray for his future club endeavors upon the expiry of his contract with Crystal Palace. Turkish club secured his signature on a three-year term ahead of Lazio, Al-Nassr, and Fernabache.

Zaha ended his 18-year-long tenure with the Eagles, he rose through the ranks of youth set-up leaving as a club legend boasting a goals tally of 90 goals and 76 assists making over 450 appearances for the club. Since his departure, the Glaziers have explored potential options as replacements this summer transfer window, although they failed to land any of their targets at Selhurst Park.

Palace stands in 13th position in the league table, having collected 8 points in the first 10 games with 3 wins, as many draws, and 4 defeats. Currently, Jordon Ayew and Eduorad are the only two scoring forwards for Roy Hodgson this season. However, the duo only contributed to 5 goals in total,  It has not been proven that they can be the primary strikers, clearly depicting the need for reinforcement in the final third. Therefore, the requirement of a prolific striker is a must, and Serhou Guirassy fulfills all the criteria.

Reportedly, The Eagles will have to pay a transfer fee of €17.5 million as a release clause under Guirassy current contract with Stuttgart in order to secure his services. Moreover, they have to battle it out against fellow premier league London rivals such as Fulham and West Ham United.

Seemingly, Crystal Palace is not the only Premier League club in the race to land the 27-year-old French-born Guinean international striker in London, facing competition from fellow neighboring clubs. Marco Silva’s Fulham is still in search of a potential replacement for their talisman Alexander Mitrovic, who left the Cottagers to join the Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal FC in the summer.

Fulham has only managed 9 goals combined in the first 10 league games with Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Carlo Vinicius being their joint top score with 2 goals each forward clearly shows how big of a void Mitrovic departure has resulted in and they surely looking to reinforce their forward line in the upcoming transfer windows.

The UEFA Conference League champions, West Ham United, want to add a number 9 to their squad. With the incoming Mohamed Kudus from Ajax, the Ghanaian international has proven his quality more as a second striker and right-winger, with his preferred position leaving room for an upgrade in the striker position. The Hammers, who are competing in the European competition Europa League this season, might fancy their chances to lure Serhou Guirassy as well.
