Australian manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly on the shortlist to become the next England manager after Gareth Southgate resigned following the Three Lions’ defeat in the European Championship final.
Southgate had led England to back-to-back Euro finals, as well as a World Cup quarter-final and semi-final, but was unable to end England’s 58-year wait for a major trophy.
Now England are on the hunt for a new manager to finally break the curse – and Tottenham boss Postecoglou is set to be on the shortlist.
That’s according to The Telegraph, which wrote: “The Tottenham Hotspur head coach has been tracked by the Football Association for years.
“FA technical director John McDermott has followed Postecoglou’s career closely from Australia to Japan to Scotland and now into the Premier League and is an admirer of his work.”

Quizzed about those links after Tottenham enjoyed a 5-1 win over Scottish side Hearts in a pre-season friendly overnight, Postecoglou said: “I was having a nap this afternoon. I have no idea.
“I’m the Tottenham manager and I’m determined to bring success to this club. That’s where my focus is totally.”
After a promising first season in the Premier League with Spurs, Postecoglou has made significant moves in the transfer window as he continues to reshape the squad in a bid to contend with the likes of Manchester City.
Spurs signed highly promising 18-year-old Archie Gray, beating a host of rivals for the €41.25m signature of the Leeds central midfielder. Tottenham also landed another 18-year-old midfielder in Sweden international Lucas Bergvall, while the club is chasing £60m Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, who was part of the England Euros squad.

The Telegraph and other outlets have named Newcastle coach Eddie Howe and former Chelsea managers Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino as frontrunners to replace Southgate, as well as current England Under-21 coach Lee Carsley.
Carsley won the U-21 European Championship last year and would likely become the new interim manager of the senior team if a permanent appointment is not sealed immediately.
Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is also reportedly interested in the job.
