Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that his side’s recent victories over Aston Villa, Leicester and Everton have helped the Gunners regain their momentum and confidence as they chase the club’s first Premier League title since 2004.

Arsenal have sat at the top of the Premier League table for the majority of the season, but a blip in form in early February that culminated in a 3-1 defeat to Man City saw them relinquish top spot to Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions.

The Gunners’ recent run of three wins on the spin has seen them open up a five-point lead at the top over Man City and speaking ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with 19th-placed Bournemouth Arteta admitted his side has taken huge confidence from their recent results.

“It gives you momentum, it gives you confidence,” Arteta told his pre-match press conference.

”It puts you in a better position in the league table, which at the end of the day is the most important thing.”

Regardless of what happens over the remainder of the season, Arteta believes his young squad are brimming with potential.

“Much more to come,” the Spanish coach said. ”We can do things much better in many aspects of the game. We still have players with immense growth potential, individually and collectively and as a club as well.

”We have to be seeking that excellence and perfectionism and trying to recruit the best people to do that and all the time having the right mindset to reach that level.”
