Bayer Leverkusen have made an enquiry for Juventus forward Moise Kean (23), according to Sky Germany.

This comes following an adductor injury to key forward Victor Boniface, which will see the 23-year-old out until around April. The Nigerian picked up the injury while on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, which has forced Leverkusen’s hand into entering the transfer market this month.

Although it’s early stages and there’s no final decision as of yet, Kean is one of three targets that Leverkusen have identified. Real Betis’ Borja Iglesias (31) is B04’s primary candidate, with the Bundesliga leaders hoping to secure a loan until the end of the season, with a potential buy option included.

Per the report, Al-Shabab’s Habib Diallo (28) is Leverkusen’s third option to provide cover for Boniface. The Senegalese forward moved to Saudi Arabia from Strasbourg in the summer for €18m, but has scored just one goal in 19 games. But because of the player’s generous salary, a move to Leverkusen is least likely for the attacker.

Could Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga?

Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen have enjoyed a magnificent start to their campaign, topping the Bundesliga after 18 games while remaining unbeaten. No team has conceded fewer than Die Werkself, while the output of Boniface makes Leverkusen the league’s second top scorers behind Bayern Munich, who currently sit seven points behind the leaders.

Bayern Munich’s defeat against Werder Bremen on Sunday has put Leverkusen in their driving seat, while they’ve been commended for their winning mentality with two stoppage time goals in their last two games.
