Bayern Munich dreams of the return of Pep Guardiola

Bayern Munich’s search for a new coach has likely dragged on for longer than they have liked, but kicker reports that the Rekordmeister are hoping for a surprise return.

It is said that Bayern are dreaming of a potential return of Pep Guardiola to the Allianz Arena. The Catalan’s contract at Manchester City expires in 2025 and he has given no indication that he will stay beyond its expiry.

Guardiola still owns an apartment in Munich and regularly visits the southern German city. It could also be suggested that Guardiola has unfinished business in Bavaria having failed to win the Champions League during his three-year spell at the club, compared to at Man City where he has won everything there is possible to win.

However, with such a move it would likely require Bayern to hope that they even have a chance of rehiring Guardiola and also solving their current coaching situation.

Hypothetically, Bayern would need to either convince Thomas Tuchel to stay another season, which looks unlikely or hire an interim coach for a season, but with the Champions League final at the Allianz in 2025, they are unlikely to want to miss out.
