After spending over €160 million thus far in the summer market, Manchester United need to move players on before adding anymore stars if they are steer clear of breaching any financial fair play rules.
Jadon Sancho is one player the club are open to moving on despite the forward mending fences with Erik ten Hag after a major falling-out last summer.
The Dutchman had called out the England international for his below-par training displays which enraged the player, who subsequently attacked the manager on social media while his camp accused him of preferring his own recruits.
The former Manchester City star refused to apologise for the public outcry and was banished from the first team with the club eventually agreeing to loan him out in January in a bid to protect his rapidly declining market value.
Sancho-EtH relationship
Off he went to former club Borussia Dortmund, where he quickly re-found his mojo and inspired the Bundesliga club to reach an unlikely Champions League final, which they ultimately lost to Real Madrid.
The team from Westfalenstadion wanted to keep hold of the Englishman but refused to pay what United were demanding and thus, after positive talks with the former Ajax coach, Sancho was reinstated back to the United first time during pre-season.
Juventus and more recently, Paris Saint-Germain were all linked with a move but nobody have thus far come close to paying the €60 million asking price.
The 24-year-old was left out of the matchday squad for the Premier League opener against Fulham and while Ten Hag revealed that his absence was due to injury, a transfer away seems quite plausible especially with the Old Trafford side still needing to bring in Manuel Ugarte.
Fichajes have surprisingly claimed that Dortmund are back in the hunt with negotiations between both sides said to be at an “advanced stage”.
“Jadon Sancho, the talented English winger who arrived at Manchester United in 2021 for the impressive figure of 85 million euros, could be living his last days at Old Trafford.
Dortmund back in the race
“Manchester United, aware of the potential Sancho showed in his earlier years, are evaluating their options for the player, but everything points to Borussia Dortmund being his next destination again.
“Negotiations between the two clubs are believed to be at an advanced stage, although a definitive agreement has not yet been reached.”
No fee has been mentioned but United are likely to be ready to part ways for less than €60 million as that particular price hike was necessitated due to PSG’s adamant stance about their Uruguayan midfielder.
However, INEOS are unlikely to accept a cut-price fee and Dortmund could still struggle to afford Sancho while also paying his humongous wages.
