According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund prevented Giovanni Reyna from moving to VfL Bochum on loan in the summer.
As stated in the report, Bochum were interested in loaning the 21-year-old for the remainder of the season.
As well as this, it is understood that Reyna was also keen on the move, as Die Blauen were offering the USA international the opportunity to be a key figure in the centre of the park.
However, BvB were keen on finding a permanent home for Reyna as they looked to receive a transfer fee for his services.
From Reyna’s perspective, this potential move was seen as the perfect chance to get his career back on track, having fallen out of favour at the Westfalenstadion.
Once deemed a promising star during his early career at Dortmund, the 21-year-old now has an uncertain future ahead of him.
While it is believed that he will be given a second chance to fulfil his potential under Nuri Şahin, having appeared for BvB against Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday one, question marks remain regarding whether a move to Bochum could have been the perfect opportunity for Reyna to flourish once again.
