Borussia Dortmund have revealed their plans for Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen.
According to Sky Germany, BVB are keen on keeping the Dutchman in Westphalia beyond this season. What’s more, the 22-year-old full-back is also keen on staying with the Bundesliga club for at least another season.
With both club and player agreeing, BVB have sent corresponding signals to Chelsea in the hope that they’re willing to let Maatsen out on loan for another 12 months.
Maatsen joined BVB in January this year. Chelsea were willing to sell in the winter, but with a release clause of €35m, it was too expensive for Dortmund.
The fee itself may still prove too high for Dortmund’s liking this summer. The club are hoping to negotiate another loan deal for the 2024/25 season. However, it remains open as to what Chelsea’s intensions will be.
Since signing in January, Maatsen has made 11 Bundesliga appearances, scoring once and assisting on two occasions.
