Vitor Roque dethroned

After his transfer to Real Madrid for the summer of 2024 was announced, all the talk in Brazilian football has been about Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick. That also is reflected in the Brazilian Série A market value update. After his debut for the Brazilian national team, 13 league goals, and his second league championship in a row the market value of the 17-year-old is slowly but surely nearing the fee paid for Real Madrid.

With an increase of €20 million to €45m, Endrick now has the highest market value in Brazil and is among the seven most valuable teenagers in world football, ahead of countryman and Paranaense striker Vitor Roque, despite the fact that his market value increased by €8m to €40m. “Even though he has been considered a top talent in international football since he was 15, the young forward hasn’t previously been able to show his talent at the highest level,” Transfermarkt Area Manager Brazil Marcos Watts said. “That uncertainty has now been removed by Endrick.”

But Endrick, whose transfer fee was an initial €37m but could move to €50m and then €60m, isn’t the only name making headlines in Brazilian football. The 25% improvement by Vitor Roque isn’t overshadowed by Endrick. The future Barcelona star is only 18—and is about to complete his second multi-million Euro deal—is a step ahea of Endrick. “Vitor Roque has proven that he is a generational talent,” Watts said.

Vitor Roque will move to Europe in January. Barcelona signed him for €40m plus performance-based add-ons. His market value now represents the transfer fee. “He has everything you can expect from a 172cm tall forward,” Watts said. “He is quick and is a strong dribbler. He is calm on the ball and great in front of the goal. Vitor Roque is on the path of becoming Brazil’s no.9—him or Endrick.”

Market values Brazil: Fluminense’s André up – Palmeiras leave Flamengo behind

Behind Vitor Roque and Endrick, Marcos Leonardo from Santos (+€8m to €25m) and Fluminense’s no.6 André (+€10m to €25m) are ranked in third place. “He was one of the cornerstones of the Libertadores victory and is an important player for the Seleção,” Watts said about André’s market value. “He is very well respected.” André has been linked with a move to Fulham, Tottenham, Liverpool and Dortmund.

Among the players that have dropped the most market value is Gabriel Barbosa, who was once the most valuable player of the Brasileirão. In his worst year at Flamengo, the center-forward dropped by €3m to €17m and is now ranked eighth in the league ranking. That also meant the squad value of his team has dropped.

Before the market value update, Flamengo was ranked ahead of Palmeiras by just a few million, but that has now changed. While Flamengo has been stagnating, Palmeiras have increased their squad value by €50m. The club from Rio de Janeiro increased its squad value by just €1.4m. Flamengo are now by €162m and Palmeiras by €210m, which makes them the second most valuable club outside of Europe behind Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
