Ivan Toney remains a Brentford player despite interest from Saudi Arabia and Chelsea in recent hours. The player has agreed personal terms with Al Ahli, but there is yet to be a club-to-club agreement between the Saudi side and Brentford. Chelsea are said to be moving in to try and sign the player in the final days of the window, but they will face a battle due to the financial package on the table from Al Ahli.
Chelsea have missed out on the signings of Samu Omorodion this summer as well as Victor Osimhen, but Toney has remained someone on the list at the club for some time. Enzo Maresca and the decision makers internally at the Blue’s are adamant on signing a striker in the final days of the window, and Toney is now someone they’re expected to push for. Elsewhere, they remain interested in a move for Jadon Sancho, but as of right now the player is closer to a move to Juventus than Stamford Bridge.
No Toney Update:
There is currently no update on the Toney situation, with Thomas Frank reiterating the club’s stance in his press conference earlier today. When asked about Chelsea’s interest in the 28-year-old, Frank suggested there was no news, with there yet to be an agreement with any club for the transfer of the player.
Yoanne Wissa has also been the subject of a bid this morning from Nottingham Forest, which has already been rejected. It’s currently unclear whether Forest go back in with a second offer for the player, who could form a potent duo for the second season running with Bryan Mbuemo if he was to stay at the club.
Toney’s contract at Al Ahli is anticipated to be upwards of €50m a year, which is something Chelsea are not going to be able to match. They will only make a formal move for Toney if the fee and wages are reasonable.
