Our weekly Premier League awards honour the best – and worst – of the football action from the weekend.

Moment of the Week

Not all of our Moments of the Week can be positive, and the Premier League’s headline news this weekend was the collapse of Luton captan Tom Lockyer. The Hatters have confirmed the centre-back suffered a cardiac arrest during their clash with Bournemouth, with the game set to be replayed after its abandonment.

Lockyer’s collapse comes after the defender suffered atrial fibrillation of the heart during last season’s play-off final, undergoing surgery last summer before being cleared to return to football. The distressing scenes witnessed at Bournemouth put the importance of football into context, with everyone at The Football Faithful – and football – wishing the 29-year-old a full and swift recovery.

Player of the Week

Newcastle needed a big performance after a run of three consecutive defeats and the club’s Champions League exit, and delivered with a 3-0 win over 10-man Fulham. Bruno Guimaraes was the star of the show for the injury-hit Magpies, producing as complete a midfield performance as seen in the Premier League this season.

The Brazilian was involved in everything for Newcastle, influential in all three goals in a standout showing. He led the contest for touches (137), completed passes (102), chances created (5), fouls won (5), take-ons (4) and duels won (9), charging through a succession of challenges with tenacity to set up Lewis Miley for the opening goal.

He saved the best for last with a party piece assist for Dan Burn to head home, lifting a delightful delivery into the box with the outside of his boot. One of the best in the division right now.

Goal of the Week

There’s a lot to like about West Ham in this sort of mood.

The Hammers swept aside Wolves 3-0 at the London Stadium, with the combinations between Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus exciting for the East Londoners.

West Ham’s first goal of the game was a brilliant counter-attack, one that saw Paqueta evade trouble brilliantly before releasing Kudus. The two have shown a blossoming understanding of late and it’s an exciting attacking core to build around for the Irons.

Stat of the Week

Lewis Miley’s breakthrough season at Newcastle keeps on getting better, with the 17-year-old scoring his first senior goal to break the deadlock against Fulham this weekend. Having come off the bench, Miley became the youngest Premier League goalscorer for 14 years.

The kid’s got a bit.

Tweet of the Week

We’ve all been there.

Quote of the Week

Classic Roy Keane.

The former Manchester United captain did not take kindly to Virgil van Dijk’s jibe that ‘only one team tried to win’ in Liverpool’s goalless draw with the Red Devils.

Chant of the Week

10-point deduction? No problem.

It’s now four straight wins for Everton. Sean Dyche’s Toffees are going to win it all

Donkey of the Week

From hero to zero in the space of a few days for Raul Jimenez.

The 32-year-old’s return to goalscoring form has been a welcome sight even for the neutrals, but there’s no doubt he let his team down badly this weekend.

The Fulham forward received a bizarre red card in the first half of his side’s defeat at Newcastle, leaving the Cottagers with an uphill task at St James’ Park. The Mexican had been irked by a wayward elbow from Jamaal Lascelles that went unpunished moments earlier, before launching himself into a reckless challenge on Sean Longstaff.

It was a strange, strange challenge from Jimenez, who launched himself into the air, attempted to pull out, and connected full force with Longstaff’s face with a mix of his hip and backside. Longstaff was poleaxed, as Jimenez received red.
