In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?
Manu’s Game of the Week: Schalke vs Borussia Dortmund
My game of the week is the Revierderby between Schalke and Dortmund. This will be the first time since COVID that Schalke will host this game in front of fans, and I expect a spectacle. I also think that Schalke will keep this interest throughout the game. Ultimately, though Dortmund should have the quality to win this, even if fans of the Royal Blues would love nothing more than ruining the Black and Yellows’ title ambitions.
Manu’s Predictions:
-
Köln 2-0 Bochum
-
Bayern Munich 3-1 Augsburg
-
RB Leipzig 3-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
-
Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 Stuttgart
-
Hertha Berlin 1-1 Mainz
-
Schalke 0-2 Borussia Dortmund
-
Freiburg 3-1 Hoffenheim
-
Werder Bremen 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen
-
Wolfsburg 1-1 Union Berlin
Stefan’s Game of the Week: Wolfsburg vs Union Berlin
Obviously all eyes will be on the big derby on Saturday evening, but it’s definitely worth keeping your Sunday afternoon clear for Union Berlin’s trip to Wolfsburg. The Kopernick side have somewhat stumbled lately and now face a tricky away game against a rejuvenated Wolfsburg. This match could make or break Union’s hopes of staying in the top four.
Stefan’s Predictions:
- Köln 2-1 Bochum
- Bayern Munich 3-0 Augsburg
- RB Leipzig 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
- Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 Stuttgart
- Hertha Berlin 1-1 Mainz
- Schalke 0-2 Borussia Dortmund
- Freiburg 2-0 Hoffenheim
- Werder Bremen 1-3 Bayer Leverkusen
- Wolfsburg 2-1 Union Berlin
Scores after MD23: Manu – 140, Stefan – 123.
