Manchester City striker Erling Haaland should be fit to play for his country during the international break, according to Norway’s team doctor.
The 23-year-old limped out of training at the start of the week, having fallen to the ground in pain after hitting a shot at goal. However, when asked about the player’s fitness situation by TV2 (translated by The Mirror), the doctor said there was “no problem” with Haaland.
Norway take on the Czech Republic in a friendly on Friday night, and City supporters will be keen to see whether Haaland participates.
The forward also has another game against Slovakia next Tuesday and, if he plays in both fixtures, fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that he comes through them unscathed.
There’s a huge game coming up against Arsenal
It’s not the ideal time for an international break, especially as the reigning Premier League champions will be taking on a title rival right after the return to domestic action at the end of the month.
Manager Pep Guardiola will be praying there are no more injury scares like Haaland’s over the next couple of weeks.
A Manchester City injury update
Despite concerns about players picking up injuries whilst away with their countries, there are two members of City’s squad who will benefit from the break.
Both Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson have muscular injuries and the gap in club fixtures could allow them to recover in time for the Arsenal clash.
Based on Guardiola’s comments last week, it appears that De Bruyne is the likelier of the two to be ready to face the Gunners, with the Belgian simply needing some rest, rather than anything more serious.
Arsenal actually have more doubts surrounding their players’ fitness, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli all struggling with issues.
