Chelsea attacking midfielder Cole Palmer says he made the right decision to leave Manchester City last summer.

The 22-year-old admits he was still willing for his former club to beat Arsenal to the Premier League title but he doesn’t feel any remorse about his move away from the Etihad.

“I was hoping Man City would win the title as I have got a lot of friends there, so I’m glad that they did it but there’s no regrets at all for the decision I took.”

Palmer has certainly thrived since leaving City, scoring 25 goals and providing 15 assists in his first season at Chelsea.

Many supporters have been left wondering whether the Premier League champions made the right decision in letting him leave for £42.5m.

Palmer wouldn’t have got game time at City

While there are legitimate questions that need to be asked about the decision to offload Palmer, there is no doubt that one of the reasons he has thrived at his current club is due to the number of minutes he has played.

Manager Pep Guardiola couldn’t guarantee the midfielder regular starting opportunities and that was the deciding factor that ultimately led to him leaving.

Oscar Bobb has been the main beneficiary of Palmer’s exit

If Palmer had stayed in Manchester, it’s unlikely that the Norwegian international would have had as many chances to play this season.

Bobb’s 2 goals and 2 assists in 26 appearances do pale in comparison to the Chelsea star’s numbers but he still has a way to go in his development.

It’s difficult to say whether the 20-year-old will thrive like Palmer has done, but he does possess a lot of potential. The winner against Newcastle back in January showed what the winger is capable of and fans will be hoping to see even more of him next campaign.
