Rio Ferdinand wants to see Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham to return to the Premier League and sign for Man Utd.
Bellingham was one of England’s best players at the World Cup as they made it to the quarter-finals before losing to eventual finalists France 2-1.
His performances were all the more impressive given he is still 19 with numerous clubs attempting to position themselves to sign him in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are believed to be the ‘frontrunners’ for Bellingham but Chelsea ‘love’ him and Man Utd are keeping the ‘door open’ for a potential move.
It will probably cost any potential suitors in excess of £100m if they want to land Bellingham over the net few transfer windows with the former Birmingham City starlet unlikely to move in January.
And, after witnessing Bellingham’s performances in Qatar, Ferdinand has urged him to return to England and sign for Man Utd.
“Jude Bellingham has been a phenomenon at the World Cup,” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel. “He has announced himself to the world now that he’s a player here to say.
“He has got so much growth, room for improvement still, but he absolutely influenced games in an England shirt like we’ve never seen a teenager do for England.
“Manchester United, bring him here. Make that your home, Jude. You come and help change shift the culture and take the club to the heights it should be at!’
“He’s been flying the flag abroad, he’s done his bit in Germany, it’s time to come home baby.”
Former Man Utd striker Louis Saha would also like to see Bellingham make the move to Old Trafford as he is exactly what Erik ten Hag needs.
“For quite a few years now, United have been a team who have lacked energy and fitness in games, and have been outrun in matches, which is not normal if you’re trying to return to the top, so that is something that Bellingham would be able to bring in if he came to United,” Saha told Paddy Power.
“Jude would be able to pick out the right passes to the more agile players, in a similar way to what Bruno Fernandes does by being a box-to-box midfielder.
“Manchester United would be an incredibly tough team to defend against if they had Jude Bellingham and Bruno Fernandes in midfield together, with Casemiro sitting behind them as cover for the defenders.
“I would love to see Jude Bellingham at Manchester United, not only as a fan but also because he’d be the perfect fit in the midfield.”
