Cristiano Ronaldo ‘will play for Al-Nassr from January 1’ after agreeing a monstrous contract to join the Saudi Arabian club as a free agent, according to reports in Spain.
The Portugal superstar’s Manchester United contract was mutually terminated last month after he went nuclear in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo ripped the club to shreds and was heavily critical of current manager Erik ten Hag and ex-interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
The 37-year-old remarkably stated that he does not respect Ten Hag and claims the club tried to force him out in the summer transfer window.
Although you would expect the words from the player himself to be the most credible source out there, it is widely believed that Ronaldo asked to leave Old Trafford last summer.
The only club to make an offer for the legendary forward was an unnamed Saudi Arabian side, however.
Ronaldo was eager to stay in Europe and play for a Champions League outfit, though this seems like it is easier said than done.
Following the termination of his Red Devils contract, Ronaldo is currently a free agent.
This has opened the door for a January transfer, and a report last month said he has ‘agreed’ to join Al-Nassr.
And it is now a done deal, according to Spanish outlet Marca.
The report states that Ronaldo will become an Al-Nassr player on January 1 after agreeing a contract with the club.
The former Real Madrid star will sign a two-and-a-half-year contract.
This will end Ronaldo’s time in European football as he joins a club in the country where Lionel Messi is an ambassador.
It is a huge move for the Middle East as a whole, who are currently on a high with the World Cup taking place in Qatar.
Ronaldo’s reported contract is absolutely staggering, to say the least.
He will become the highest paid athlete in the world and of all time with the agreed contract.
His deal is worth ‘a little less than €100m’, with the likes of Messi and Neymar earning €75m and €70m, respectively. Peasants.
However, the ‘economic incentives’ involved in the deal will see Ronaldo earn ‘close to €200m’ per season.
Ronaldo will join up with former Lyon and AS Roma manager Rudi Garcia in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nassr’s most notable players are ex-Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, Vincent Aboubakar, Anderson Talisca, Luiz Gustavo, and Alvaro Gonzalez.
