Notorious Arsenal fan and broadcaster Piers Morgan reckons the Gunners would’ve won the Premier League this season had they signed CR7 up.
Cristiano Ronaldo was interested in signing for Arsenal after leaving Manchester United earlier this season, according to Piers Morgan.
The 38-year-old became a free agent in November after his comments about United in an interview with Morgan led to the termination of his contract. He later signed a world-record deal in January to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
However, with Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes almost over following last Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to Brighton, Morgan has claimed Ronaldo was open to joining Mikel Arteta’s side in the winter – a signing he feels would’ve been a game-changer.
“Mock all you like, but if we’d signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season – as he was keen to do by the way – we would have won the league. He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters,” Morgan posted on Twitter.
In Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo is in the thick of a title battle himself with Al Nassr. The Knights of Najd sit second in the Saudi Pro League table. They are three points behind leaders Al Ittihad with three games left to play.
