Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal is imminent after Manchester City withdrew their interest in the West Ham midfielder.

Arsenal are in pole position to secure a deal for Rice after submitting a third offer for the 24-year-old, worth a club-record £105m including add-ons.

The Gunners’ record-breaking bid has seen rivals Manchester City withdraw from the race, leaving the north Londoners to negotiate the terms of a deal with West Ham.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Arsenal expect to reach a full agreement with West Ham within the next 48 hours. The increased offer from Arsenal is worth an initial £100m with £5m in add-ons and would make Rice the most expensive British footballer of all time.

Arsenal are confident that the transfer can be finalised for Mikel Arteta’s leading target, following a lengthy chase for the England international.

Rice captained West Ham to a first major trophy since 1980 last season as the club won the Europa Conference League and led the Premier League for both ball recoveries and interceptions.

Arsenal are also nearing agreements on deals for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber and Chelsea’s Kai Havertz as the Gunners look to strengthen ahead of the club’s Champions League return.
