Manchester United conceded late on again but they escaped with a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United were leading till the 84th minute when Aaron Wan-Bissaka conceded a clumsy penalty which allowed Mohamed Salah to equalise. But they were far from comfortable.

Both goals were pieces of individual brilliance from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo but the overall game was heavily tilted in Liverpool’s favour.

They had three times the number of shots the hosts had and could have scored quite a few if not for poor finishing and some brilliant goalkeeping from a resurgent Andre Onana.

Inverted RB role suits Dalot

Another player who bounced back on the day was Diogo Dalot, after he conceded a last-minute spot-kick against Chelsea in a match United ended up losing.

But the Portuguese did not look fazed at all and confidently strut into midfield time and again while playing out from the back and was quick and sharp with his passing.

The right-back had 57 touches and ended the game with a passing accuracy of 90 percent. He also found a teammate with his solitary crossing attempt while also successfully completing two long balls.

The 25-year-old looks like he enjoys inverting into midfield and playing as right-back allows him to do that more easily and that could be something the coaches could look at moving forward.

Dalot bounced back

Defensively, he was far more secure, winning all his aerial duels and coming out successful in six ground duels out of nine.

He also completed two crucial clearances, and made four tackles while managing to block one effort on goal (all stats via sofascore).

Erik ten Hag had suggested Dalot had the mental fortitude to come back from a disappointing evening at Stamford Bridge and he did exactly that on Sunday.

The Portugal international needs to keep up this level moving forward and the manager needs to be a bit more consistent with his choice of full-backs. He cannot keep switching between Wan-Bissaka and Dalot every other game.
