The Hungarian star will begin his Premier League journey with Liverpool next season.

New Liverpool signing Dominik Szoboszlai has admitted he idolized Cristiano Ronaldo as a teenager.

Ronaldo’s remarkable status as a football legend, combined with his unmatched work ethic, has inspired a numerous young footballers to fight for their dreams. As CR7 approaches the twilight of his career, a new generation of talented players is rapidly emerging into the world of elite-level football.

Szoboszlai is set to become Liverpool’s second signing in the summer transfer window. The Reds have activated his £60m release clause at RB Leipzig, hoping to have found their new top-class forward.

Speaking to Fabrizio Romano in 2021, Szoboszlai admitted he was inspired by Ronaldo’s mentality in his teenage years.

“When I was 14 I always had in my mind that I wanted to be Cristiano Ronaldo, like a lot of kids,” the former RB Salzburg star said. “But as I grow up I know I can reach the top and I started thinking about myself, concentrating on me and not looking at anyone else. So it’s just about me and myself.

“Because of Ronaldo’s mentality, he worked so much for his dreams and what he wanted to achieve. And, yes, he did it. So nothing is impossible. I have my own goals and I want to reach them also.”

Szoboszlai is expected to join Liverpool’s squad before their friendly match against Karlsruher on July 19.
