Speaking ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s DFB Pokal clash against RB Leipzig, Edin Terzic offered a personnel update with hope that Gio Reyna and Thomas Meunier will return to the squad.

“Nico Schlotterbeck will not be available to us in the next few weeks,” said Terzic. “Karim Adeyemi is missing as he’s suspended with Julien Duranville it still takes some time after the injury.

“We hope that Gio Reyna and Thomas Meunier can join us again. We’ll have to decide today after the final training session. For Sébastien Haller there is also a small question mark after he took a knock in Munich.”

Schlotterbeck was forced off at half-time during Borussia Dortmund’s 4-2 Klassiker defeat against Bayern Munich last weekend. The 23-year-old central-defender suffered a torn muscle fibre in his leg which also involves a tendon, and so he will be out for the foreseeable future.

Reyna missed the game against Bayern Munich with a cold but has played just 28 minutes across his last two Bundesliga games, whilst Meunier missed the game with a back problem. The Belgian has played just 19 minutes across Dortmund’s last six league games.

Borussia Dortmund will be looking for a response following their 4-2 defeat against Bayern Munich which dropped them back into second, behind the Rekordmeister. Dortmund have some excellent memories in the DFB Pokal, winning the 2020/21 title under Terzic.
