Erie County Top Performers for District 10 sports: Oct. 23-28

The first full week of District 10 playoff action began with Monday’s quarterfinals for its boys and girls soccer tournaments.

Matches in various brackets will run through the entire week at various locales.

Also scheduled this week is the PIAA girls team tennis tournament. The district’s Class 2A and Class 3A champions seek to still be playing Saturday, when the state’s championship finals will be held at Hershey.

Also on tap are the final weekend of regular season games for football and the district’s cross country meet at Titusville.

Here are some of the notable Erie County players from those postseason events:

Boys soccer

Mava Mboko, Iroquois: He scored goals on his first two shots for the Braves, who blanked Eisenhower 4-0 in the teams’ District 10 Class 1A quarterfinal at Dollinger Field.

Girls soccer

Molly Taylor, Mercyhurst Prep: She scored one goal and assisted on two others during the Lakers’ 5-1 victory vs. Eisenhower in a District 10 Class 1A tournament quarterfinal at Dollinger Field.

Madison Soudan, Girard: She factored into each goal the YellowJackets scored en route to their 2-0 elimination of Wilmington during the quarterfinals of District 10’s Class 1A tournament.
