Manchester City and Manchester United are “exploring the conditions” for signing Independiente del Valle midfielder Kendry Paez, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist claimed on his YouTube channel that the two Manchester rivals will compete with Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen for the teenager’s signature.
Paez hasn’t even played a senior game yet, but he has impressed with his performances at international level, having scored three times in just five appearances for Ecuador’s Under 17s.
At 15 years of age, he wouldn’t move to Europe straight away, even if City were to win the race for the player, but he is seen as a very promising talent for the future.
The Premier League champions have a strong scouting network in South America, having recently recruited youngster Maximo Perrone from Velez Sarsfield during the January transfer window. They also managed to secure the high profile signing of Julian Alvarez from River Plate last year.
