Bright-Osayi-Samuel-Tottenham-Spurs-Transfer-Rumours

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of Fenerbahce wing-back Bright Osayi-Samuel this summer, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik.

The North London club is keen on acquiring the services of the Nigerian international during the current summer transfer window. Aston Villa and Sunderland, Premier League and Championship rivals respectively, are also keeping a close eye on the talented player.

As things stand, the 25-year-old is open to the idea of returning to England. The defender’s current contract with the Istanbul-based club has two more years remaining on it, but they are going to evaluate offers for him.

Having joined Fenerbahce from Queen Park Rangers in January 2021, Osayi-Samuel boasts extensive experience in English football, having previously played for Blackpool in League One. He has become a crucial figure in Fenerbahce’s squad, although he faced stiff competition for a starting spot from Ferdi Kadioglu during the 2022/23 campaign.

Tottenham’s recent history of right-back signings has been a mixed bag. Matt Doherty’s arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 failed to yield the desired impact, while the inconsistent performances of Emerson Royal, acquired from Barcelona in 2021, have left fans wanting more.

The addition of promising talent Djed Spence last summer was promising, but he struggled to showcase his abilities and spent the latter half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Stade Rennais. In January, Spurs brought in Pedro Porro from Sporting CP.

Despite all the criticism, with the exception of Doherty, the other players are still at the club. Emerson Royal has shown signs of improvement in recent times and Djed Spence is still very young and has a lot of potential.

Pedro Porro was signed only in January and needs time to work stuff out. It is not very easy to adapting to life in England and the Spaniard has shown in the months that he has been here that he only keeps improving.

However, if Tottenham are to be serious about getting competitive and start challenging for trophies, they cannot sit around and wait for the players they have to come good. They need to be proactive in making these signings.

With a series of underwhelming right-back signings, Tottenham Hotspur now aim to rectify their recruitment in that area. The potential acquisition of Bright Osayi-Samuel holds the promise of injecting renewed strength into the right-hand side of the team’s defence, providing a much-needed boost for the upcoming season.
