Florian Wirtz plans to stay with Bayer Leverkusen for the 2024/25 season despite interest from top clubs around Europe, according to Kerry Hau

The clear plan is for the German international to experience Champions League football with B04 before taking the next step in his career.

Wirtz and his party are aware of the interest from Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Barcelona. However, the most likely move in 2025 for Wirtz will be to Bayern rather than abroad. As reported by GGFN in November, neither Wirtz nor Bayern are in a rush to get this deal over the line. The 20-year-old wants to develop and mature at Leverkusen before making the move to Bavaria, meaning that a stay beyond the European Championships is a possibility.

What’s more, Bayern have more priorities in 2024, particularly in the number six and central defence positions. Additionally, Thomas Müller is expected to extend his current contract by another year, meaning a move for Wirtz in 2025 makes the most sense from a Bayern perspective.
